Operating GOM software and 3D measuring systems properly
Get ahead online or on site with training from GOM
When users are well trained, 3D measuring systems and software for testing and inspection can be used with great efficiency. Users can best obtain tips and tricks first-hand from experienced trainers. Efficient operation of the systems and skillful use of the software can further speed up quality assurance and even product development processes. To meet the need for basic and advanced training, GOM—the specialist in optical metrology—offers a wide range of courses in different formats through its GOM Training Center. In addition to traditional on-site and eLearning courses, live online training is now available for customers. All GOM training involves an explanation of software functions, practical measuring and inspection exercises using sample data and a final comprehension test.
Live online training
Customers can now attend live online the in-person training courses previously offered only on site. These training courses are held over one or more days on scheduled dates and address a wide array of topics. Attendees have the opportunity to interact directly with the GOM trainers, participate in practical exercises and ask specific questions about the material. In short: Wherever customers may be, they can experience the training as if they were actually there. Courses and all live dates can be found in the GOM Training Center under “Live Sessions”.
eLearning courses with virtual consultation hours
eLearning courses with a live online office hour are the perfect combination for diving into a new topic or expanding on prior knowledge. With the video tutorials included in the course, attendees can learn at their own pace as well as learn when and where they please. The weekly virtual consultation hours included in the eLearning courses give attendees the possibility of discussing the exercises directly with GOM trainers or asking specific questions. Customers can attend multiple online office hours, which are available in German and English.
GOM learning paths: industry-specific and customized
The GOM learning paths provide a quick orientation and are tailored to customers’ specific knowledge requirements. With the learning paths, metrology beginners can grow into experts in their industry. Each user logging into the GOM Training Center for the first time is automatically assigned their own industry-specific learning path with recommended training courses. This makes it easy to find just the right path through the training program. The sequential modules currently cover four industrial application areas: automotive and sheet metal; casting; injection molding; and aerospace, including power generation.
Program expansion
GOM regularly expands the range of courses offered in the Training Center. For example, an eLearning course on geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) was just added at the start of 2021. With GD&T inspections, customers can determine whether the interaction of their components meets strict quality requirements. This avoids costly iterations in quality control. In the new eLearning course, attendees learn in detail about the analytical options and various computation methods available in the GOM software and learn how to apply them.
Training for budding experts
GOM also offers expert courses focusing on metrological tasks and challenges in industries such as automotive and aerospace. These courses combine methods, workflows and tips and tricks with technical background knowledge and practical exercises with the hardware and software. The trainers for these courses are experts themselves, with extensive know-how and years of experience in their areas. This allows them to give attendees application-specific answers to technical questions, even those that go beyond the scope of the training course. Getting the most out of an expert course requires experience with operating GOM systems and software.
