Flyability Launches Elios 3 with Remote ID Compatibility

Indoor drone solution provider Flyability announces the release of a new version of the Elios 3, compliant with FAA regulations on UAS Remote Identification.

Beginning on September 16, 2023, all drone pilots who are required to register their UAS per FAA standards must operate their aircraft in compliance with the Remote ID ruling. This requirement will take effect when the final rule on Remote Identification of Unmanned Aircraft is published in the Federal Register. Building compatible drones is now required of manufacturers as of last year. Since interior spaces are not subject to FAA regulation and Flyability’s products are primarily intended for indoor usage, a temporary fix had been implemented: creating drones that could only be used indoors.

Flyability significantly increased the use cases for its drones after the release of the Elios 3. Many of these new uses, including the mapping and inspection of pipe racks on land and at sea, radiation surveying of structures housing radioactive waste, and inspection of bridges and culverts, are now carried out outdoors. Flyability is happy to present the Elios 3 RID so that its users can take full advantage of its technology.

The FAA’s Remote ID ruling’s standards are entirely met by the Elios 3 RID. In order to ensure that the implementation of the regulation would not negatively impact the operation of the device in locations without GPS, Flyability consulted with leading experts and the FAA.

According to Alexandre Meldem, Managing Director of the Americas, “While our drones have typically been used indoors, the Elios 3 has many unique features that mean many want to use it too.” Therefore, we’re eager to start selling the Elios 3 RID and see what new uses our clients come up with for it in nature.
