The MarForm MMQ 500 form measuring device can now be modified by clients to function as a production-related measuring station for bearing rings. A unique centering tool has been created by Mahr Engineered Solutions (MES) as a new accessory specifically for this use. This places bearing rings with diameters ranging from 20 to 330 millimeters in the C axis’s middle.
The unit is made out of an aluminum base plate that is mounted on the MarForm MMQ 500’s centering and tilting table. Mahr takes advantage of the existing screw holes for clamping mechanisms for this purpose. Three support rails with precision Mahr-made shafts are attached to the base plate, where the operator mounts the bearing ring. The base plate also has a magnet adjacent to each of the three support rails. These three magnets hold light, small bearing rings up to a 110-millimeter diameter in the centering position.
Centering with three levers
Three levers can be used to manually center the workpiece after the operator has set it on the base plate: The operator pulls a handle on one of the levers. This best prepares the MarForm MMQ 500 used to inspect the form and location characteristics of the bearing rings without interference from other parts or external forces by causing all three levers to move synchronously to the center of the fixture. All three levers automatically return to their starting positions after being actuated, preventing interference when measuring the workpiece’s outer surfaces.
Special component goes into series production
Up to ten kilograms of workpiece weight can be moved with the centering device. It works well for various flat, rotationally symmetrical workpieces that don’t require clamping in addition to bearing rings. The centering device was initially created by Mahr specifically for a significant client. However, it will be readily available as an add-on for the MarForm MMQ 500 due to the versatile application possibilities and the high customer benefit.
