Cross-Manufacturer Teamwork for Indoor Localization

Cross-Manufacturer Teamwork for Indoor Localization

Recently, the first OMLOX Plugfest provided a venue for networking, professional dialogue, and intercollegiate cooperation. The plugfest was held to evaluate OMLOX V2, an open standard for UWB indoor localization in an industrial setting, for compatibility and interoperability.

The universal standardization of UWB indoor localization systems is something that OMLOX works to achieve. This permits, for instance, communication between the location infrastructure of one manufacturer and the tags of another manufacturer. This makes cross-site localization solutions possible. Additionally, OMLOX provides interfaces for the incorporation of additional localization technologies, such as Bluetooth or GPS for outside use.

To verify cross-vendor functioning, hub, and core zone tests were added in the plugfest. The primary objectives were to guarantee interoperability and provide trustworthy standards in the area of indoor localization.

A total of eight distinct companies, including infrastructure providers, tag producers, hub developers, and UWB chip producers, participated in the international OMLOX Plugfest. The variety of the participating businesses was a reflection of the widespread industry support for the OMLOX standard.

Over the course of the two days that the plugfest lasted, there were several experiments, debates, and experience exchanges. The occasion contributed significantly to the advancement of OMLOX’s development as well as the creation of dependable and compatible standards for indoor localization.
