The 47th WorldSkills competition recently wrapped up in Lyon, France, bringing together 1,400 participants from nearly 70 countries and regions in a global showcase of skills and talents. SHINING 3D, a newly appointed Global Industry Partner (GIP), played a key role at the event by providing cutting-edge, high-accuracy 3D scanning equipment, ensuring the highest standards for the competition.
Mechanical Engineering CAD and 3D Scanner
One of the standout categories at this year’s event was the Mechanical Engineering CAD competition. This competition required participants to use advanced tools like 3D scanners to create 3D models of mechanical parts, reverse engineer physical objects, and simulate designs. With competitors from 29 countries, including Brazil, China, Canada, France, South Korea, South Africa and UAE, this was one of WorldSkills’s largest and most impactful events.
Mechanical Engineering CAD is fundamental to modern industrial design and plays a key role in the digital transformation of manufacturing. 3D scanners are vital tools in this process. Their ability to accurately capture detailed 3D data of complex shapes helps reduce the time and potential errors associated with manual measurement, making the design process more efficient and accurate.
At WorldSkills, SHINING 3D’s EinScan Pro HD 3D scanner was the official tool for the Mechanical Engineering CAD competition. This high-accuracy scanner was used extensively in mechanical design and reverse engineering tasks. Competitors could easily capture precise 3D data from physical components, streamlining the conversion from real-world objects to digital models. This helped improve the efficiency of measurement, modeling, and design processes.
