PC-DMIS 2020 R2 brings integration with Hexagon’s cloud-based asset management software, compliance to the latest ASME standards, and a host of other features to improve workflow efficiencies.09 September 2020
Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division today launched PC-DMIS 2020 R2, the latest edition of the world’s most popular measurement software. PC-DMIS 2020 R2 delivers a range of new features and improvements to enhance the user experience and drive inspection efficiency.
A major new enhancement of PC-DMIS 2020 R2 is its full integration with the cloud-based HxGN SFx | Asset Management software. This solution delivers a simple, accurate way to monitor and analyse how key assets are performing via a centralised, secure, user-friendly dashboard, whether assets are on a single site or in multiple factories around the world. As the data is collected and web-hosted, it can be accessed on a browser on any mobile device, enabling operators to monitor asset usage, downtime and event notifications for data-driven, real-time decision-making. The Routine Detail View enables users to drill down into a detailed view of a specific routine, including process information, routine measurement results and routine history. PC-DMIS users with an SMA also receive instant event notifications about specific routines on all assets.
Geometric Tolerance Command is our new “rule-based” GD&T library that supports ASME Y14.5 – 2018, ISO 1101 – 2017 and offers a number of improvements and expanded capabilities over the current XactMeasure library. In 2018, the Y14.5 definition of datum features was revised to provide a mathematical definition for a single datum feature that represents the mechanical datum simulator or “true geometric counterpart” per Y14.5.1 – 2019. This new definition improves correlation between mechanical inspection methods and digital data from coordinate measurement systems and more accurately represents how parts fit and function in their assembled state. PC-DMIS is now one of the first software products to support ASME Y14.5 – 2018 and ISO 1101 – 2017 enabling manufacturers to meet the demands of new design specifications with confidence and efficiency. The software’s new error checking ensures specifications comply to ASME or ISO standards and flag invalid callouts with descriptive warning messages to help identify and fix drawing errors. The new GD&T library also supports model-based definition (MBD) in accordance to current ASME and ISO MBD standards.
PC-DMIS 2020 R2 also introduces more flexible reporting capabilities with 3D PDF. This new feature removes the need for users to print out multiple pages showing parts in different orientations, as the 3D PDF digital file enables quick and simple product analysis and data extraction.
“We are very pleased to release this latest version of our market-leading metrology software PC-DMIS,” says Ken Woodbine, Senior Product Manager – PC-DMIS Collaborative Solutions at Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division. “PC-DMIS 2020 R2 offers a number of features and capabilities that keep it ahead of the competition. We believe we are the first metrology SW to comply with the latest ASME standards and therefore meet the needs of a demanding supply chain. We are also very proud to integrate fully with SFx Asset Management, providing users and management realtime data on their metrology equipment, no matter where they are”.
This is the second of two major PC-DMIS releases scheduled for 2020, with continued service pack updates to ensure maximum reliability of the platform. To ensure our customers can use the latest features, download the latest updates and continue with maintenance updates, we recommend the purchase of a current Software Maintenance Agreement (SMA). The SMA also provides access to ongoing technical support and service.
