LARGE-SCALE 3D MEASUREMENT SYSTEM FOR PARTS UP TO 6500MM

The PolyScan XH is designed to measure part up to 6500mm, combining 2380 scanning units. It’s a versatile measurement system, well suited for automotive sheet metal components ranging from a door, to a full-length bodyside. System can have a hybrid scanning volume configuration: using only the center scanning units with smaller parts for a faster cycle time, or use all the scanning units for longer components.

SOFTWARE

Surround Scanning has been made possible by the tremendous amount of R&D Polyrix has put into software development since 2005. At the core of this process, the Polyscan Control Center (PCC) manages data acquisition from all scanning units, then generates the 3D models. Polyscan operation is made easy by the Automation Manager simple interface, or 3rd party software plug-ins (e.g. PolyWorks|Inspector Plug-in).

The PolyScan Control Center provides three levels of security: operator, inspector and administrator. For the operator, everything is as simple to operate as a barcode reader. The operator can inspect production using inspection layouts provided by an inspector. The inspector will have previously setup the inspection layout associated with any barcode. He is also responsible for the creation of those inspection layouts. Through PolyWorks® by InnovMetric, for instance, it is possible to setup any GD&T verification and perform Statistical Process Control (SPC) automatically on the operator generated data. The administrator is responsible for all scanner level settings and can assign security level to any user.

ELECTRONIC

State of the art computing is assured by a set of set of twenty-one (21) computers using the latest generation CPUs and totalizing 704 GB of RAM. Computations are distributed across this architecture to speed it up. A gigabyte switch handles all the network communications.

MECHANICAL

The PolyScan XL is huge. Its mechanical structure is meant to stay stable in spite of its size. All the braces keep it rigid. The isolation pads on which it is mounted, block most of the vibrations. The casings allow aim to be adjusted for each optical unit.
