Mahr Introduces New Millimar Digital Amplifier for Length Metrology

Low-Cost and Easy-to-Use, the C 1202 Amplifier Features a High Resolution, High Color Contrast Display to Produce the Smooth Motion of an Analog Meter

PROVIDENCE, RI – August, 2021 – Mahr Inc., a global manufacturer of precision measurement equipment used for dimensional metrology, has introduced the new Millimar

C 1202, a full feature, configurable, low-cost, digital length evaluation amplifier for high precision measurements in the inspection or production environment. The C 1202 features a high-resolution, high-color contrast display that provides clear and very responsive analog readings with selectable scales. The compact instrument is versatile and suitable for use with a variety of sensors.

The Millimar C 1202 is user configurable with the use of Mahr’s N 1700 series amplifier modules. Modules are available for LVDT inputs in both standard and high-resolution capabilities; pneumatic inputs for air tooling; and input modules for digital encoders. The Millimar C 1202 will allow for up to two inputs and provides the capability of displaying up to three measurement results.

Depending on the input module used, the display range can be up to ±5000 µm with reading resolution of 0.1 µm. When combined with Mahr’s N 1702-HR high-resolution module, the range becomes ±200 µm with reading resolution of 0.01 µm. Users can view the analog scale, numeric digital readings, or both and the display may be adjusted to the ideal viewing angle (0º to 90º). The C 1202 unit can also be wall mounted.

“A major design goal for the new C 1202 was to build upon the success and features of the Millimar C 1200 which was a breakthrough high-value amplifier that produced a digital display that perfectly simulates the smooth motion of an analog meter,” said George Schuetz, Director Precision Gages for Mahr. “This fast response is ideal for exploring part deviations common with surface plate measurement applications and has been carried over into the C 1202. However, the new C 1202 multiplies the input capabilities, providing the ability to do multiple input applications such as differential measurements, tapers and taper angles.”

The Millimar C 1202 is a full feature bench amplifier allowing for signal combination, formula creation, tolerancing for part qualification, dynamics, and part creation and storage—all of the features needed for today’s high-performance gaging requirements. There are also capabilities for using the C 1202 in semi-automatic bench gage applications as it can be externally controlled and implement timing configurations. Data output is available using MarConnect cables for Digimatic, Opto-RS 232, or USB interface. Output type is auto-sensed by the cable connected to it.

Operating features are set up using an integrated five-button keypad. Features such as unit selection (in/mm/µm), normal/reverse polarity, measuring range, formula creation, display configuration, preset, factor, and tolerance entry are easily set up by visual menu options. When tolerances are used, the backlit display shows pass/fail status using green/red colors.
