Open-House Event at Big Zero Technology LLP, Pune, India

An open-house product launch event was organized at Big Zero Technology’s facility in Pune. It was a multi-day affair (26th – 27th Oct., 2021) conducted as per the prevailing COVID-19 norms, regulations and government guidelines.

The event was planned and organized in a very innovative manner. It was purely based on confirmation and reservation basis. It is the only reason why the event was planned for two(2) days. Each customer was booked with a particular time-slot, thus preventing over-crowding and maintaining all protocols.

The moot agenda of this event was not to sell. On the contrary, it was meant to create awareness and build a pipeline for future orders. The core concept of the event was “MEET &GREET” with people from the industry and going back to the old ways of doing business of selling capital products.

Akshay Singh, CEO of Big Zero Technology spared some time for us(Metrologically Speaking). It was during this informal chat we had a sneak-peek into the new products and arrangements, that have taken shape in the last couple of months. Prior to August 2021, Big Zero Technology sold GOM products(hardware and software), only in the Western markets of India. With the new arrangement coming into effect from 1st August 2021, Big Zero Technology would be able to serve its customers across the length and breadth of this country. He also goes on to add that similar events are planned for Bengaluru and Chennai, dates for which will be revealed shortly after Diwali.

Optical Metrology is gaining momentum in the metrology world. Portable metrology takes us back in time, some 20 years back. It was typically dominated by the arm based market. With the advent of new techniques and methodologies in manufacturing, there is demand for 100% inspection. Hence the visible change.

Big Zero Technology wants to offer solutions which are directly in sync with the manufacturing and automotive industry. To match up with the ever increasing production speeds and reducing cycle times, only scanners happen to fit the bill accurately. There are a lot metrology companies world over who are picking up this trend. A huge amount of money, time and resources are being spent on the R&D of such products.

The two products showcased in this event are as follows :-

  1. GOM Scan 1 — can open up new possibilities. Industrial standards such as GOM fringe projection technology and Blue Light Technology deliver the foundation for detailed and accurate 3D meshes. Meanwhile, the integrated software GOM Inspect helps you apply the mesh to any project you want: 3D printing, reverse engineering or part inspection.

GOM Scan 1 in Use

GOM Scan 1 features a compact shape and robust design filled with advanced technologies. From GOM’s Blue Light Technology to the stereo camera principle, this sensor is built to deliver 3D data with high precision. The lightweight solution allows to capture 3D data intuitively. Easy to operate, GOM Scan 1 is the specialist for simple and fast measurements of small to medium-sized parts – even in confined spaces. GOM Scan 1 is available in three versions with the measuring volumes: MV 100, MV 200 and MV 400. With all three sensors you can rely on high-precision measurements for small to medium-sized objects. It is an optical 3D fringe projection scanner. It captures the complete surface of components with blue fringe projection and delivers detailed resolution in no time. The projection unit of the new GOM Scan 1 is based on Blue Light Technology. Since the sensor works with narrowband blue light, interfering ambient light can be filtered during image acquisition. Due to its powerful light source, short measuring times can be achieved.

GOM Inspect lets you smooth, thin and refine polygon meshes, fill holes or extract curvature lines, achieving very accurate meshes that can be saved in many common formats. The best part: our smart polygonization. It creates a mesh with highest detail while keeping the mesh size easy-to-handle.
