Polytec PT GmbH will Become Part of Bostik

To improve its product lineup and better service the rapidly expanding battery and electronics markets, Bostik acquires Polytec PT GmbH. The publicly traded specialized materials firm ARKEMA, with its headquarters in Colombes, close to Paris, France, is home to the multinational maker of specialty adhesives known as Bostik.

The inclusion of Polytec PT in the Arkema group will enable them to develop into a full-system provider, establish a global presence for the technology, and support clients in markets that aren’t currently covered.

Specialty adhesives and thermal interface materials are developed, produced, and distributed by Polytec PT GmbH for use in the electronics, electrical, and automotive industries. The product line consists of UV-curable adhesives, high-temperature products, thermally conductive detachable gap fillers, and adhesives and potting compounds that are electrically and/or thermally conductive.

Polytec PT has already established a strong presence in this sector as a pioneer in the development of Thermal Management Materials, which are essential for enabling quick battery charging and effective heat dissipation in electric vehicles.

A member of the Polytec Group, Polytec PT generates sales of about €15 million through its two principal production facilities in Karlsbad and Maxdorf, Germany.

For the teams at Bostik and Polytec PT, who already work together on innovative solutions, this purchase is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It will enable them to quicken these advancements and establish themselves as a major force in the thermal interface materials and electronics industries.

Achim Wiessler, Managing Director of Polytec PT GmbH, says, “We are looking forward to joining the Arkema Group. “Bostik is the best partner we could have,” We can use our considerable knowledge in thermally conductive goods to help Bostik and Arkema achieve their goal of providing a full range of cutting-edge materials for both the inside and outside of battery cells. Our progress in the battery market, particularly outside of Europe, will be further accelerated by Bostik’s excellent development capabilities and global footprint, according to Wiessler.
