Scantech’s 3D Scanner SIMSCAN Space Version: Officially Used in Mengtian Lab Module of China Space Station

Scantech, a global provider of comprehensive 3D solutions, is proud to announce that its 3D scanner SIMSCAN Space Version has been officially used in the Mengtian Laboratory Cabin Module of China Space Station (CSS) to conduct in-orbit experiments.

The 3D scanner has been used in CSS to conduct precise, efficient, and stable 3D measurements.

On October 31st, 2022, the Mengtian laboratory cabin module was launched atop a Long March-5B rocket from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site in the southern Hainan province, successfully docking with the Space Station.

The 3D Scanner SIMSCAN Space Version, along with the Mengtian module, witnessed this milestone in China’s aerospace industry.

The Mengtian laboratory cabin module is one of the three key modules of the space station. Its interior layout consists of four sections: a working cabin, a payload cabin, a resource cabin and a cargo airlock cabin.

It is mainly used for conducting space scientific and practical experiments. As the “dream workshop” for the space station, Mengtian has the most powerful payload-supporting capabilities.

The SIMSCAN Space Version has been put into in-orbit experiments on the space station, marking the successful completion of Scantechs project for the China Space Station.

The project was launched in 2018

initial sample review

For the past years, we conducted hundreds of experiments and simulation tests, including dynamic/static stress, modal, vibration, and thermal analysis.

We overcame numerous key technical problems and provided the best solution in terms of product appearance, structure, size, accuracy, stability, and more.
