A new research facility that will be constructed in South Yorkshire and will have Boeing as its first major research partner has been announced to provide an additional £80 million boost to composites research and development in the UK for the manufacturing of aerostructures.

The Compass (Composites at Speed and Scale) facility at the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) has been awarded £50 million to enable a ground-breaking research program with Boeing as the center. The venture was declared yesterday [July 13, 2023] by UK Chancellor, Jeremy Chase, as a feature of the South Yorkshire Speculation Zone.
