Both accuracy and precision (reproducibility) are substantially influenced by changes in temperature. The Verisurf Coefficient of Thermal Expansion mobile app (VS CTE App) makes it easy to quickly determine the effect temperature has on the length of a given material.
Using the app is simple. Select any material from the pull-down menu to load its CTE into the calculator, then enter the material length, material temperature, and a reference temperature. The app automatically displays the change in unit length and in total length caused by the increase or decrease in material temperature from the reference temperature.
If the material you’re working with is not listed, just enter the CTE manually to calculate its behavior due to temperature change.
VS CTE features built-in CTE lookup values for these common manufacturing materials:
- Aluminum 99.9%
- Aluminum 2024-T4
- Aluminum 6061-T4
- Aluminum 7075-T6
- Beryllium
