Waygate Technologies Announces Phoenix V|tome|x M Omni: Revolutionizing Industrial Inspection

Waygate Technologies, a subsidiary of Baker Hughes and a global leader in nondestructive testing (NDT) solutions for industrial inspection, today unveiled Phoenix V|tome|x M Omni as its new flagship computed tomography (CT) product. It relies on the success and tried-and-true technology of the Phoenix V|tome|x M and replaces the company’s most well-liked CT system, adding several features that further boost flexibility, speed, and detection quality. The incredibly adaptable premium CT system is appropriate for a variety of 3D metrology, research, and evaluation applications in the lab setting as well as automated precision inspection in production. The Phoenix V|tome|x M Omni will support a number of important industries, including battery inspection in the electronics and e-mobility sectors and a variety of aerospace-related uses. In the latter part of this year, the system will be made accessible. Customers and interested parties can attend the Control trade show in Germany (Stuttgart, May 9–12) to witness its global debut.

Built on a successful legacy

V|tome|x M The Phoenix V|tome|x platform from Waygate Technologies, the most popular industrial CT system with more than a thousand installed systems worldwide, serves as the foundation for Omni. The company’s patented Scatter|correct solution, which eliminates scatter at the touch of a button, High-flux|target, which produces faster scan results, and the unique Dynamic 41 detectors, which offer higher resolution and brightness, are some of the features that have long been recognized as vital components.

Advanced functions for a wide range of industrial applications

The Phoenix V|tome|x M Omni offers a plethora of extra advantages, such as a larger scan envelope, more workflow and integration possibilities, greater metrology accuracy, and easy access to crucial parts for use and upkeep.

The two horizontally mounted tubes, a strong 300 kV/500 W microfocus tube for top-notch imaging of dense objects and a 180 kV/20 W nano focus tube for imaging with even higher resolution provide optimized image quality.

The system is built to be more serviceable and productive, with an easy-to-access maintenance door and a re-engineered manipulator that permits maximum efficiency, always keeping the operator in mind. The new cabinet has a sizable sliding door that makes loading and unloading samples simpler. Additionally, it features flexible loading options for both internal and external cranes to lift huge goods. The technology also provides a larger scan envelope for large samples up to 75 kg with a moving detector for scanning results on smaller samples that are extremely effective.

The Phoenix V|tome|x M Omni also comes with a space-saving control desk that improves workflow flexibility, integrated workflows for automated defect recognition (ADR) with the exclusive X|approver software, and a new standardized interface prepared for integration into automated workflows with robotic and other at-line inspection solutions.

Award-winning design

The Phoenix V|tome|x M Omni just won the iF Design Award 2023, an international design competition honor given every year since 1954, even though the CT system is not yet available on the market. Jurors assessed the product based on its concept, form, purpose, uniqueness, and impact. More than 4.700 participants submitted more than 10.000 entries this year. The Phoenix V|tome|x M Omni’s form and functionality received the highest marks for its useful but fashionable design.

Ben Linke, CEO of Waygate Technologies, states, “Our goal is to continuously improve our products by keeping on the front edge of technology and investigating new opportunities. The Phoenix V|tome|x M Omni, a versatile product with which we are introducing new, valued features and serving strategically very key growing markets, is, therefore, a source of pride for us. The iF Design Award affirms our dedication to usability, design, and functionality, all of which we believe are necessary for creating truly effective solutions.
