XM-60 Multi-Axis Calibrator Enables Smart 5-Axis Measurement

Version 4.8 of Renishaw’s CARTO software suite gives users the option to use the XM-60 multi-axis calibrator for off-axis rotating measurement. The XM-60 multi-axis calibrator is now available in the Off-axis rotary measurement mode of the CARTO Capture program, allowing measurement of all axes of a 5-axis machine tool with a single laser system. The Renishaw XR20 rotary axis calibrator cannot always be installed on the center of rotation, but this enhanced capability makes calibrating rotary axes easier in those situations.

“Users will see a real benefit from the increased productivity from the XM-60 multi-axis calibrator,” said Dan Throup, Product Owner for Calibration Software. The XM-60 laser uses CARTO Capture’s position-based trigger and automatic sign detection to speed up the procedure and reduce human error that was previously connected to off-axis rotating measurement.

The Renishaw XR20 rotary axis calibrator has established itself as the industry’s top tool for measuring rotational errors directly in stages, jigs, and machine machines. The CARTO software suite’s off-axis rotary measurement mode enables users of the XM-60 multi-axis calibrator to swiftly record and evaluate data from all rotational axes of any configuration.

From September 18 to September 23, Renishaw will showcase its top-tier digital ecosystem for its laser calibration devices, the CARTO software package, at the EMO Hannover 2023 trade show in Germany (hall 6, stand B32). Three apps are included in CARTO: Compensate for rapid and simple error correction, Explore for advanced analysis to international standards, and Capture for gathering laser measurement data.
