The Innovation Tri-Valley (ITV) Leadership Group has presented the coveted #GameChangers Award to ZEISS, the world leader in optics and optoelectronics. The award ceremony, which honoured ZEISS for its remarkable accomplishments and developments in the fields of optics and optoelectronic technologies, took place in Pleasanton, California, on March 29, 2023.
For more than 175 years, ZEISS has been a leader in the fields of optics and optoelectronics. ZEISS has had a presence in California since 1991, and in 2021 it constructed a new ZEISS Innovation Centre (ZICC). Its new R&D, production, sales, and customer service facility is located at the Centre in the San Francisco Bay Area. It serves as the US headquarters for the ZEISS Medical Technology division and is where Shared Service operations, Research Microscopy Solutions, and Process Control Solutions are located. The high-tech complex, which also has customer experience and demonstration centres displaying current ZEISS advancements, employs 800 people. From research conducted at ZICC, numerous hundreds of patents are being submitted. Research undertaken in California has been the basis of more than 5.000 publications. There are 200 people employed in R&D.
The Tri-Valley #GameChangers Awards honour outstanding businesses for their contributions to entrepreneurship and innovation in the Tri-Valley area of California. The prize was given to Carl Zeiss Meditec Inc. in 2017. This was ZEISS’ second time winning it. The topic of this year’s award presentation was “Where are past #GameChangers Award Winners today?” and an update on ZEISS’ major investment since 2017 was provided.
